Tween time is for students in the fifth through eighth grades. We meet in the Youth room at 9:00 AM before the Sunday service. Students are released from Tween Time to join their families for the 10:00 worship service. This week’s scripture passage is Matthew 22:1-14. This parable is difficult for most of us, adults included, to understand. The king has prepared a wedding feast for his son. Many guests have been invited and have responded that they will be at the wedding feast. However, all the invited guests refuse to come to the party on the day of the wedding. The wedding feast is ready and the king sends slaves to invite everyone they meet, good and bad, to the feast. When the new guests show up, they are given fancy robes to wear to the banquet, but one of the guests refuses to wear the robe. This is a difficult parable that has been used to exclude people and bully people into being a certain way to get into the feast. I wonder if we can find a different way of understanding this parable. And our game this week is called The Good Fence. There is a saying that “good fences make good neighbors.” If you can build a fence with the supplies and directions given to you within one minute, there just might be prizes this Sunday! I’ll be looking for you!
