Northside Book Study

Our next book, which we will begin discussing on Tuesday, February 28th, is Cleve Jones's When We Rise: My Life in the Movement, which chronicles Jones's life in the gay rights movement, from his days working with Harvey Milk in San Francisco during the 1970s to his launching of the AIDS Memorial Quilt during the 1980s to his continuing activism for LGBTQ equality and justice today. BookList has called the memoir "enlightening, unsparing, and powerful," and Rob Reiner has said the book "takes us along a journey filled with humor, sadness, love, and ultimately profound change."

If you would like to hear a recent interview with Jones on NPR's Fresh Air, you can listen here.
