What’s all that cardboard on the ground?
The NAM garden is almost completely covered in cardboard in a desperate effort to smother the weeds. With beds not planted, weeds take over. The cardboard will be replaced asap with black plastic sheeting made for weed suppression. As usual, garden tasks way outweigh the available labor to accomplish them.
However, the sweet potatoes are ready for harvest. Hopefully, not too many grubs sampled them before harvest and we will have many pounds for the pantry. Yard-long beans continue to produce, though slower. Anyone interested in helping with the garden and/or adopting a bed, contact Judy Walden at firstname.lastname@example.org.
