At least the rain directly over the garden. With over 5 inches of rain in two days, the garden is quite soggy. Some of the potatoes are very stress and will have to be harvested early. We just hope that the rest of them are OK and can be allowed to mature. We only have a month to go before regular harvest. The newly planted sweet potatoes, on the other hand, just love this weather. I’ve never seen newly planted sweet potato slips look so good, perky and upright. There is more room for more plantings, but that will only happen if someone steps up to adopt the space.
Peace to all,
Judy Walden, still garden coordinator
