March 2017 Loose Offerings

March 5 – Church World Services School Kits and UCC Back Bay Mission Kits

Your donation will fund Plymouth’s contribution to the South Central Conference UCC Annual meeting projects.  School Kits give children in impoverished schools, basic tools for learning.  These kits are distributed by Church World Services.  The Back Bay Mission Kits are used to provide basic toiletries for those without their own bathing facilities in Biloxi, Mississippi.

March 12 – “Refugee Help: Books, Bikes & Buddies” (refugee assistance program)

In connection with An Nisa Hope Center the “Books, Bikes and Buddies” program for refugee families in Houston has kicked off.  This program is helping newly arrived refugees become comfortable going to their local public library, which has a large selection of books in many languages.  They are collecting donations to purchase new bikes and helmets so that families can easily get from their apartment complexes to the library where they can check out books, meet new friends, and take all sorts of free ESL and other classes.  Our donation will assist them in their purchases.

March 19 – UCC Child Support Sponsorship Program

Plymouth is the proud sponsor of a young boy named Purushothaman. Purushothaman attends the King’s Matriculation School (KMS) in India. He and his mother live with his grandfather.  It costs $360.00 per year to sponsor a child and Plymouth plans to continue this support until he is 18 years old. The UCC Child Sponsorship program is a special ministry through the national UCC Wider Church Ministries and 100% of money raised goes directly to the child sponsored.  The national UCC underwrites all administrative costs.  For more information about Purushothaman please contact the church office.  We encourage letter writing from anyone within our congregation throughout the year.

March 26 – UCC One Great Hour of Sharing (UCC 5×5)

One Great Hour of Sharing (OGHS), one of the 5 UCC offerings, provides emergency and long-term assistance to people in the aftermath of hurricanes, tornadoes, storms, floods, tidal waves, fires, explosions, technological disasters, civil strife, war, or other natural or human-caused events.
